Pearson International Scholarships at the University of Toronto offer outstanding international students an unparalleled opportunity to study at one of the world’s best universities in one of the world’s most multicultural cities. The purpose of the scholarship program is to recognize students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement and creativity and who are recognized as leaders in their schools. Special emphasis is placed on the impact the student has had on their school and community life, and on their future ability to contribute positively to the global community.

Scholarship Benefits:
The Lester B. Pearson International Scholarships will cover tuition, books, incidental fees, and full residential support for four years. The scholarship is only applicable to first-entry, undergraduate programs at the University of Toronto. Approximately 37 students will be named Lester B. Pearson Scholars each year.
Eligible Nationalities:
Awarded annually, these scholarships recognize outstanding students from around the world, including international students studying in Canadian high schools. This is T’s most prestigious and competitive scholarship for international students.
Eligibility Criteria:
To become a Pearson Scholar, you must be nominated by your school and apply for undergraduate studies at the University of Toronto. Ask your school guidance counselor about being nominated. Once you have been nominated and applied to the University of Toronto, you will be sent a personal, secure link to apply for the Lester B. Pearson International Scholarship.
Pearson Scholars are students who have demonstrated exceptional academic achievement and creativity, who are recognized as leaders in their school, and who have the potential to contribute to the global community in the future. They can be distinguished from other students who can achieve equally high academic results because of their breadth of interest, intellectual energy, and impact on the life of their school and community.
To be eligible to apply for a Pearson International Scholarship, you must:
- an international student (ie a non-Canadian who requires a study permit);
- Are you currently in your final year of secondary school or have not graduated before June 2023?
- Begin your studies at the University of Toronto in September 2023 (students who have already completed post-secondary education cannot be considered; students who start their studies at another post-secondary institution in January 2023 cannot be considered)
