Applications are now being accepted from adequately qualified individuals for the Simon Fraser University Undergraduate Open Scholarship, which is offered to international undergraduate students wishing to enroll in a degree program at the University for the academic year 2023-2024.
The Undergraduate Open Scholarship acknowledges and supports academically competent undergraduate students by awarding scholarships on a term-by-term basis. There is no application process; students who match the qualifying criteria are automatically eligible for the Open Scholarship.

Simon Fraser Undergraduate Open Scholarship
The Undergraduate Open Scholarship is only available to students enrolled at SFU and pursuing a first degree. It will expire when your total accumulated units (including transfer units) surpass the number of units required to complete the degree program in which you are enrolled by 10%.
For example, if your main degree requires 120 units to graduate, your total accumulated credit and transfer credit will exceed 131 units.
A student who is currently receiving an SFU Entrance Scholarship is ineligible for any other University-managed scholarship until the entrance scholarship is fully paid out. This policy is in effect for any term in which an admission scholarship is delayed.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Simon Fraser University Undergraduate Open Scholarship, applicants must complete the following requirements:
- International students must apply.
- Applicants must be registered in a full-time degree program.
- Applicants who have completed at least 30 units of SFU coursework.
- Applicants must have a 3.67 or higher cumulative grade point average (CGPA) at SFU.
- Applicants must have a term GPA of at least 3.50 in their most recent term of enrollment.
- Applicants must have been enrolled in at least one of the previous three terms.
Completed at least 30 units of courses at SFU in the last three terms of enrollment. Students who fall short of the 30 unit criteria because they enrolled in a single course of five units or fewer during one term will be considered for the last four terms, and that term of one course will be set aside in assessing unit and term GPA eligibility.
A student with a handicap who has been permitted to study at a reduced course load must have completed at least 30 units of courses at SFU in the previous five terms. The student must present a letter from SFU’s Centre for Accessible Learning (CAL) confirming registration with the Centre (CAL).
Application Procedures
Applicants interested in the Simon Fraser University Undergraduate Open Scholarship should be aware that no application is necessary. Undergraduate students who are eligible will be notified by email no later than the end of the third week of classes.
