Students entering Dalhousie in the Fall term are eligible for entrance rewards. To be accepted, students must have an entrance average of 80% or 26 predicted/anticipated IB Diploma points.

The averages are computed using the five courses necessary for the program for which the student has applied. Domestic and international students are both welcome to apply. The admissions average is not taken into account for the First Nations and Indigenous Black Student Grants.
Students must complete the application and submit any supplementary documentation by the March 1 deadline to be considered for the General Entry Award program.
Types Of Dalhousie University Scholarships
Entrance Awards at Dalhousie University and Donor-Funded Entrance Awards
Applicants to the General Entry Award program will be considered for hundreds of various entrance awards. This comprises donor-funded university entrance scholarships, bursaries, and named rewards.
Scholarships are incentives provided to students largely for academic success or other accomplishments. Bursaries are financial assistance grants provided to students who demonstrate financial necessity.
Students get hybrid prizes based on academic success, leadership, community activity, and/or financial need. Some scholarships are only available for the first year of study.
Others may be renewable for up to four years if they fulfill certain academic criteria and enroll in a certain number of classes. Throughout a four-year period, entrance awards range from $500 to $48,000.
Scholarships for Black Students
Scholarships for First Nations and Indigenous Black Students are valued at $32,000 ($8,000 per year, renewable for four years).
Indigenous Black and First Nations students from Atlantic Canada who have high academic standing and financial need are eligible.
NS Forsyth Family Scholarship
Up to $80,000 in value (up to $20,000 per year for four years)
Available to Black African Nova Scotian students with financial needs and extracurricular engagement.
Marth Edwards and Jeff D. Edwards Scholarship
Value: $12,000 (renewable for four years at $4,500 each year).
Priority will be given to Canadian students of Black African heritage, with a second preference given to Black Bermudian students at Dalhousie. Those pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree are also given preference.
The Promise of Ivan Joseph Scholarship
Price: $32,000 ($8,000 per year for four years)
A domestic undergraduate student from an under-represented/under-served group attending a degree program is eligible.
Scholarships Sankofa
Domestic students pay $32,000 ($8,000 per year, renewable for four years). Foreign students pay $48,000 ($12,000 per year for four years)
Two grants are available for domestic students. One award is given to a student of Black/African Descent of Caribbean background and another to a student of Black/African Nova Scotian entering an undergraduate degree program.
One award will be given to an international student of Black/African descent from the Caribbean (priority will be given to students from the former British West Indies) who is starting an undergraduate degree program.
African Nova Scotian and African Descent Student Entry Scholarship WeAreAllCS
$10,000 ($5,000 per year for two years)
Students of African heritage are eligible, with African Nova Scotian students admitted to the Bachelor of Computer Science or Bachelor of Applied Computer Sciences receiving precedence.

International students should apply for all eligible entry awards, including the specific awards listed below, by submitting a General Entrance Award application.

Available to: Jamaican students enrolled in the Bachelor of Engineering degree who have demonstrated high academic status and financial necessity.

Foreign Students – $48,000 ($12,000 per year for four years)
One award will be given to an overseas student of Black/African descent from the Caribbean (priority will be given to individuals from the former British West Indies) who is enrolled in an undergraduate degree program.
