Applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible for OCIS scholarships:

  • English is the required language.

Eligible Countries: You must be:

  • ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom and from a Muslim community (with preference given to those from financially disadvantaged households), or a national and ordinarily resident in one of the following Asian or African countries:

  • You must be applying for a new full-time master’s or DPhil course at Oxford.
  • You must intend to return to your country of usual residence once your course is complete.
  • Academic merit will determine who receives scholarships.
  • You must intend to study in a field derived from or relevant to the Islamic tradition or that is relevant and/or advantageous to the Muslim world.
  • This award is not available to candidates applying for postgraduate certificate or postgraduate diploma courses, part-time courses, or non-matriculated courses.
  • This scholarship will not be considered for candidates who hold deferred offers to begin in 2023–24.

To qualify for OCIS Scholarships, please follow the steps below:

  • Each course has a unique form for the purpose statement.
  • Each course has its own score requirements (TOEFL iBT, IELTS Academic).

  • To be eligible for consideration for this scholarship, applicants must be offered a place on their course following a review of applications submitted by the relevant January deadline. Scholarships can’t be given to people whose course applications were held over after the January deadline so they could be re-evaluated against applications that came in by the March deadline or put on a waiting list.
