In a nursing unit, the Health Unit Coordinator (HUC I) is in charge of the day-to-day (shift) administrative tasks and coordination of activities. To assist and facilitate unit operations and guarantee that patient requirements are satisfied, the HUC I works in tandem with the charge nurse.
The maintenance of unit supplies and equipment, as well as adherence to certain environmental, process safety, and regulatory standards, are overseen and facilitated by the HUC I. The center of communication and activity for the unit is the HUC I. The HUC I is proficient in computer skills, clerical duties, technical skills, communication, organization, and medical terminology. The HUC I demonstrates efficacy on both a personal and professional level.
Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or the equivalent.
Related training and/or college-level courses, as well as three (3) years of comparable experience, are preferred.
Basic Life Support from an American Heart Association (AHA)-approved hospital-based program.
