The IIE-SRF Fellowship is a scholarship for international students that is fully funded. This award is for doctoral-level research studies. The IIE-SRF Fellowship provides a grant of up to $25,000 and individual health insurance to support a one-year visiting academic appointment.

The Baden-Württemberg Fund enables researchers to continue their work in the fields of liberty and security at universities and other higher education institutions in Baden-Württemberg. Researchers who are eligible include teachers, senior scientists, and government intellectuals from any country, academic field, or discipline who are facing or have recently fled immediate and targeted threats to their lives and/or careers in their home countries or countries where they live permanently.

Eligibility Criteria for IIE-SRF Fellowship

• Eligible Countries: All global nations
• Professors, senior researchers, and public intellectuals from any nation, academic field, or field of study are eligible.
• Academic qualifications, the quality or potential of the applicant’s work, and the severity of the applicant’s threats are considered when reviewing applications.
• Scholars who have a Ph.D. or the highest degree in their field and/or a lot of teaching or research experience at a university, college, or other institution of higher education are given preference. Scholars who are facing or have recently fled from immediate, severe, and targeted threats to their lives and/or careers in their home countries or countries where they live are also given preference. Scholars who have shown superior academic achievement and promise and who will benefit their home and/or host academic communities are also given preference.

• (1) Applicants may submit their application materials themselves or have a third party do so on their behalf. Included in the application materials required are:
• Request a cover sheet.
• Academic statement. Please provide a detailed summary of your academic and professional history and experience.
• current resume or CV.
• Personal statement. Please provide a detailed explanation of why you are seeking support from the IIE-SRF.
• Two (2) academic or professional letters of recommendation from colleagues who can speak to your research, publications, teaching, or other advanced academic experience.
• Two (2) personal letters of recommendation from colleagues or individuals who are familiar with your professional history and the challenges you have faced. When possible, please have your referees send their letters directly to the IIE-SRF at srf@iie.org on official letterhead.
• A copy of your doctoral or advanced degree
• Examples of your most recent publications in writing or research
• a letter from an accredited higher education institution that may be able to host your fellowship. This is not a necessity.
